Sololá, Guatemala
A ritual is paused mid-flame, a wooden box in the center of the space holding the remains of a body as it rests for adoration before continuing to burial. Garduño traveled to the city of Sololá, Guatemala, a location with ancient roots in the highland region, to spend time observing local customs and people when this photograph was taken.
