A late-career work, Sobel began to include ladybugs in compositions completed from the 2000s, depicting arrangements created and imagined in her studio.

Jehudith Sobel studied in Poland learning from foundational abstract principles in Cubist, Constructivist and Unist visual theory. The artist traveled, exhibiting her work, eventually moving to New York in the late 1960s where she lived between Manhattan and Woodstock. Known for landscapes, still-lifes and cityscapes, Sobel developed a painterly style characterised by shifting short color strokes similar to Pointillist handling of pigment, and a simplified, bold approach to subject as practiced by the late 19th century Nabis group.
